Don't you just love it when someone comes after you while trying to convince you that they're on your side? Well, then you're going to really enjoy "Smart about Software: 2008 Software Strategies for Small Businesses, a new reference guide for small businesses from Small Business Administration (SBA) in partnership with the Business Software Alliance (BSA).According to an email sent to bMighty.com, this "free" Webinar -- also available on DVD! -- "is designed to be a tool for small businesses to reap the benefits of an efficient software license management program."

And what, exactly are those benefits? Well, basically, you can avoid the BSA coming after you like an attack dog. As the BSA puts it on its Smart About Software Web site: "small businesses can protect themselves from the legal and financial consequences of using unlicensed software."

Of course, those consequences come not from the software itself, but from the BSA! To make its point perfectly clear, the site also features a Scared Straight Video. Watch carefully or your next business trip could be to The Big House!

Look, no one's saying that businesses should pirate their software. But this mixture of scare tactics and disingenuous prattle drives The rANT crazy!
