Several analyst firms have predicted six-figure talent gaps in terms of open jobs compared to qualified individuals.

There's a lot of this going around. A few years ago 60 Minutes did a segment on the hiring gap, but they were referring to the inability of job seekers to write.

Online training and self service exploration
Great post! There is a dire need for more skills not just data science, but business users who are expected to actually apply these insights into action.  My take is that we not only need the online training, but need to encourage freer exploration to improve the comfort level.
