Last month, in connection with a major deal involving AT&T's agreement to buy the IBM Global Network for $5 billion, AT&T awarded IBM a 10-year, $4 billion outsourcing contract for management of applications supporting its business customers and for its data-center operations. That deal affects about 2,000 AT&T employees, who will be offered jobs with IBM.
