AT&T, CSC In Applications Outsourcing Deal

AT&T said today that it has awarded Computer Sciences Corp. a 10-year, $300 million contract to manage 50 applications supporting AT&T Consumer Services.

The contract, effective March 6, encompasses systems for telemarketing and customer support, provisioning and provisioning support, and compensation and commissions for sales and marketing. About 100 AT&T employees will be offered jobs with CSC, and 150 contract employees will transfer to CSC.

Last month, in connection with a major deal involving AT&T's agreement to buy the IBM Global Network for $5 billion, AT&T awarded IBM a 10-year, $4 billion outsourcing contract for management of applications supporting its business customers and for its data-center operations. That deal affects about 2,000 AT&T employees, who will be offered jobs with IBM.
