AT&T Accelerates Its Fiber TV Rollout In Wisconsin

The phone conglomerate is hoping that its new offerings will keep customers away from similar services from cable companies and home satellite network providers.

AT&T is stepping up the rollout of its U-verse fiber TV network, as the company announced Wednesday that the TV and high-speed Internet service is available in selected parts of Wisconsin.

The company, which previously said it was ironing out some minor software glitches, said nearly 7,000 customers in five states are currently using the TV and high-speed Internet service. AT&T said it will continue expanding the U-verse service into new markets for the remainder of the year. The service is relatively new to the market and originally launched last summer in San Antonio and Houston.

AT&T said U-verse provides more than 25 high-definition channels and digital video recording capability. A DVR receiver, available to new subscribers, can record four TV programs simultaneously. AT&T hopes that its new offerings will keep customers away from similar services from cable companies and home satellite network providers.

The service also features a video-on-demand library.
