Princeton Softech and BMC Software on Monday said they have signed a sales and marketing technology alliance.

The agreement adds Princeton's database archiving software to BMC's SmartDBA Performance Management portfolio. The joint software is expected to provide maximum application performance through complete monitoring, diagnostics, tuning and archiving across enterprise applications, databases, hardware platforms and operating systems.

"As the only database archiving company that supports the enterprise from mainframe to distributed database systems, Princeton Softech is very much in line with our strategy of heterogeneous database management and a natural enhancement to our SmartDBA portfolio," Bill Miller, vice president and general manager of data management for BMC, said in a statement.

Princeton's database archiving technology moves infrequently accessed data from production application databases to low cost storage media. As a result, companies manage and store structured data more cost-effectively throughout the information lifecycle.
