Business process management vendor Metastorm signed a deal under which IT services and systems integration firm NEC Solutions America will resell Metastorm's BPM software, with a focus on financial services companies.

NEC will recommend and install Metastorm's e-Work software in conjunction with its own products and services, especially those designed for the banking, brokerage and insurance industries. The addition of e-Work to NEC's portfolio fills a "critical gap" in addressing BPM for NEC's customers, the companies said.

NEC plans to maintain an in-house team trained to sell, deploy and support Metastorm's technology. NEC is already involved in projects involving Metastorm BPM applications.

NEC Solutions America is a unit of Japanese PC maker NEC Corp.
