Information Builders on Wednesday shipped new software that tracks the performance of business intelligence systems.

WebFocus Resource Analyzer tracks usage in order to help ensure availability and acceptable response times for queries across an enterprise. Resource management is increasingly important as the number of BI users expands beyond business analysts and upper executives, and the number of data sources also rise, officials with the New York-based company said.

The new product's features include the ability to determine the impact Web-based reporting has on operational online transaction processing (OLTP) systems, and on reporting and decision-support systems with OLTP workloads.

In addition, the software tracks the average or maximum CPU consumption per request, average or maximum response time, and number of records returned. Other features include the ability to monitor applications' resource usage, and to determine heaviest usage times and the best times to schedule maintenance, backups, data warehouse extractions, transformations, and loads; and batch processes.

The software also can determine system recovery times from software failures or disk-drive crashes.

Pricing for WebFocus Resource Analyzer was not disclosed.
