Actuate Gets Closer To IBM

Performance management vendor Actuate Corp. plans to announce next week a closer relationship with IBM that includes the latter vendor promoting Actuate software in the financial services sector.

Performance management vendor Actuate Corp. plans to announce next week a closer relationship with IBM that includes the latter vendor promoting Actuate software in the financial services sector.

Actuate on Monday plans to announce that it has joined IBM's ISV Advantage for Industries Initiative, a program designed to provide independent software vendors with technical and marketing support within specific markets.

As part of the deal, Actuate and IBM would work together on joint marketing, collaborative selling, implementation services, software integration and performance optimization, Actuate officials said Friday. Actuate is currently an IBM partner.

Specifically, Actuate Enterprise Reporting applications will be optimized for IBM eServer pSeries and xSeries computer systems running on Linux, AIX, or Windows. The Actuate software also will be optimized for IBM's suite of middleware products, including WebSphere, Information Management, Rational, Lotus, and Tivoli. The combined technologies will target financial institutions adopting service-oriented architectures, a form of distributed computing based on XML standards.
