AOL Offers Free Movie To Download Beta Testers

The test is to get feedback on changes the company is making "under the covers" to the download process in an attempt to make it faster.

AOL is offering a free movie to people who agree to become a beta tester of its movie download service.

The portal launched the AOL Video test this week through its Beta Central site. The free movie offering ends Feb. 2.

AOL currently offers movie downloads on AOL Video. The beta test is to get feedback on changes the company is making "under the covers" to the download process in an attempt to make it faster, an AOL spokeswoman said. The company is not adding new features. "This is part of an ongoing upgrade of the video service," she said.

Beta testers have a choice of nine free movies, none of them current. The offerings include "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Men In Black," "Flatliners," and "Easy Rider."
