Another Day At The Office

Microsoft will deliver seven editions of Office 2007 when the updated app suite ships later this year. One package will add tools for routing documents and publishing files to workgroups, while a top-end version will include Groove and OneNote for collaboration. There's a revamped user interface on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to make commonly used features easier to find. Microsoft, however, isn't ready to talk about just how much all of that will cost--at least not about the top-end editions. The company also released a beta version of Office Live, an online service for small businesses. At stake: Information worker products contributed 45% of Microsoft's operating profits in the quarter ended Dec. 31.
