Akamai Intros Application Delivery Platform

Akamai, a global distributor of Internet content, Thursdayunveiled EdgeAdvantage, a new platform for Internet application delivery that aims to simplify the integration of E-business applications and tools.

EdgeAdvantage, an extension of Akamai's FreeFlow content- delivery service, enables E-businesses to offer real-time customized ad insertion, profiling, log analysis, transaction processing, and new forms of dynamic content.

"Today's Internet just isn't robust enough for the demands of E-business," Akamai chairman and CEO George Conrades says. "Building upon our success in making a better Internet for content delivery, we are now enabling high-performance delivery of applications for our customers.

The company is looking to partner with application providers to offer customers a broad set of E-business tools and applications, saving customers the time and cost of integrating the various products themselves.
