Mercury Interactive tool tests quality of business processes

Mercury Interactive Corp. this week will release software to test workflows that cut across software applications. Business Process Testing, an enhancement to the company's Quality Center software, lets business analysts and software-quality engineers create tests to see if processes that call on multiple apps run smoothly.

Graebel Relocation Services, a nationwide mover, uses the software to shave time off a process that determines how subcontractors are paid. "The subject-matter experts can construct the tests," says John Reading, director of Oracle applications at Graebel. "There's a drag-and-drop system behind it."

The software has sped up a process that took 40 users 10% of their time, he says. Graebel's business processes sit on top of its Oracle apps, and a set of Oracle 11i testing components is available for Quality Center from Turnkey Solutions Corp.

Pricing starts at $15,000; a typical configuration runs about $50,000, including components for testing with Oracle apps. According to Mercury, independent software vendors will ship components for PeopleSoft, SAP, and Siebel Systems software in the future.
