IBM Announces New Data Center for Cloud Computing

Intel, Yahoo and HP need to make more room in the cloud: IBM is building a $360 million cloud data center facility at its Research Triangle Park campus in North Carolina.The data center will include new technologies and services that will give customers access to its "Blue Cloud," according to the company. IBM is renovating an existing building, which is slated to officially open toward the end of 2009. IBM also announced plans to build a cloud data center in Tokyo, targeting businesses, universities and government agencies in Japan. The Research Triangle Park and Tokyo centers will be linked with IBM?s seven other cloud centers around the world.

Earlier this week, Intel, Yahoo and HP said they're going to build the HP, Intel and Yahoo! Cloud Computing Test Bed (CCT), a network of six data centers for research into cloud computing.Triangle Business Journal, The Register
