Federal E-Gov Organizer Bolts For Tech Startup

Three months after his boss, Office of Management and Budget director Mitchell Daniels, left, federal online-government czar Mark Forman also is leaving OMB. Forman reportedly is taking a post in an undisclosed technology startup.

He was unavailable for comment. OMB chief technology officer Norm Lorentz will fill Forman's position temporarily.

A former Unisys E-business exec, Forman was appointed to his OMB post by President Bush in June 2001 to expand the federal government's move from paper-intensive processes to electronic-based processes (see White House Hires Unisys Exec).

Forman pushed the development of a governmentwide IT architecture and 24 major E-government initiatives. An OMB spokesman says support for the programs will continue.
